I’ve been cutting and soldering little pieces of coloured glass for close to fifty years now. These animal lamps are something I still make by hand, one piece at a time  every shard cut, foiled and soldered the slow way, the way my old teacher showed me back in the day.
They’re all a bit different. The light settles into each one its own way, gives them their own little spirit. Folks often say they remind them of their pets.

My wife and I help a small dog shelter out on the edge of town. It is running short on money to keep it going, so I spend my days at the bench making these lamps to keep the doors open a little longer.
Please don’t feel any pressure but if you do choose to bring one of these little glass creatures home, just know it helps us feed and care for the dogs who haven’t had much luck elsewhere. It means more than you’d think.

Material
Hand-cut stained glass with copper foil and soldered frame.

Size
19 × 16 × 18 cm

I look over each one carefully myself, hoping it reaches you just the way it left my old workbench  glowing, warm and ready for a good home. :)

Meet Gator - 2 Years old

Breed: Chihuahua/Terrier mix

Rescue location: Found under a bridge on its last legs.

When rescuers found him, Gator didn't know which way to turn. His cloudy eyes show that his vision has faded with age, making the world a confusing and frightening place for him. He sat perfectly still on the cold floor, unable to see who was approaching, just hoping that the hands reaching out were kind ones.

Despite his limited sight and his age, Gator has a spirit that just wants to connect. He navigates the world with his heart, tilting his large ears to listen for a friendly voice. He is a gentle senior who simply needs a soft place to land.

Your support helps Gator get specialized senior medical care, warm bedding for his old joints, and the chance to live out his golden years in safety.

Meet Benny — 5 Years Old

Breed: Terrier mix

Rescue Location: Found shivering behind a factory

Benny was discovered hiding behind a warehouse, curled up on a thin blanket that someone had thrown away. When rescuers approached, he didn’t run — he just stared with those scared, confused eyes, unsure whether he’d be hurt again.

His fur was matted, he was covered in fleas, and he’s clearly been neglected for a long time. Vets believe he was dumped after living in a home where he wasn’t properly cared for.

Even after everything, Benny is gentle. When he realises you’re kind, he pushes his head into your hand like he’s desperate for someone to finally love him.

Benny is safe now, but he needs grooming, medical care, and proper nutrition to recover.

Your support helps dogs like Benny get a second chance.

Meet Pongo — 2 Years Old

Breed: Dalmatian

Rescue Location: Found abandoned at a bus stop

pongo was discovered curled tightly on a cold bench, shaking and too scared to move. Passers-by said she’d been there for hours, waiting for someone who never came back.

She’s severely underweight, has pressure sores from sleeping on concrete, and flinches at sudden movements — signs she likely came from a home where she wasn’t treated kindly.

Despite everything, Willow is gentle. When rescuers lifted her up, she buried her face in their arms like she’d finally realised she was safe.

Now she needs proper food, vet care, and time to rebuild trust.

Your support helps Willow heal and find the loving home she deserved from the start.

Meet Willow — 1 Year Old

Breed: Shepherd mix

Rescue Location: Confiscated from a neglect case

Willow arrived terrified and shaking, his tail tucked so tightly it barely moved. He came from a home where he spent most of his time locked in a small laundry room, rarely let outside, and often ignored.

When officers brought him in, he wouldn’t lift his head he was that scared of people.

He’s gentle, confused, and clearly not used to kindness. The marks on his legs and the worn fur on his elbows show how long he spent lying on hard floors without proper care.

But the moment a volunteer sat beside him, he leaned in slowly, as if asking whether it was finally safe to trust someone.

Your support helps Pongo get medical care, behavioural support, and a real chance at the good life he’s never known.

Meet Bruce — 8 Years Old

Breed: Great Dane

Rescue Location: Owner surrender after years of neglect

Bruce arrived heartbreakingly thin, with pressure sores on his hips and a coat that shows months of poor care. His previous owner moved house and left him behind in the yard — neighbours reported he waited by the gate every day, hoping someone would come back.

By the time rescuers found him, he was dehydrated, exhausted, and too weak to stand for long. Even now, he sits quietly and watches the door, like he’s still waiting for the life he lost.

Despite everything, Bruce is gentle and calm. He leans in softly for affection, grateful for any kindness.

Your support helps Bruce get medical care, proper nutrition, and the safe, loving home he should have had all along.

Meet Mila — 1 Year Old

Breed: Lab mix

Rescue Location: Found abandoned in an alleyway

Mila was discovered curled up beside a dumpster, shaking from fear and hunger. Neighbours said she had been wandering the street for days after being dumped by her previous owners.

When rescuers approached, she didn’t bark or run she just looked up with those wide, frightened eyes, hoping someone would finally help her. Her ribs were visible, and she had bruising along her back from suspected rough handling.

Despite everything she’s endured, Mila is incredibly gentle. She wags her tail softly whenever someone speaks to her, still believing people can be kind.

Your support helps Mila get food, warmth, medical care, and the chance to feel safe in a real home for the first time.

Meet Shadow — 6 Months Old

Breed: Brindle Pit Mix

Rescue Story: Found trembling behind a supermarket bin

Shadow is just a baby. Rescuers found him curled tightly against a wall, too scared to move, after being left outside in the cold. He was severely underweight, his paws raw from walking the streets, and he wouldn’t lift his head until someone gently spoke to him.

He didn’t growl or bark he just stared up with those huge, frightened eyes, hoping he wasn’t about to be hurt again.

Now he’s safe, but still shaking, still unsure, still learning that hands can be kind.

Your support helps Shadow receive food, warmth, medical checks, and the stability he’s never had.

Meet Peaches — 2 Years Old

Breed: Pitbull Mix

Rescue Story: Starved, abandoned, and holding on for help

Peaches was found curled against a concrete wall, too weak to stand. Every rib shows. Her hips protrude. She’s so underweight that rescuers believe she went days — possibly weeks — without proper food or water.

Even in this condition, Peaches still tried to protect the tiny stuffed toy left beside her. It’s the only comfort she had.

She doesn’t bark. She doesn’t lash out. She just looks up with tired eyes, unsure why the world has been so cruel to her.

Peaches needs urgent care, steady meals, and a safe place to recover.

Your support could be the difference between Peaches surviving or slipping away.
